Prof.Dr Emin ERGEN Sports Medicine Specialist Medical Advisor and Consultant Physician

Prof. Ergen studied medicine at Aegean University School of Medicine (1980) in Izmir, Turkey, and received the title of sports medicine specialist from the same institution in 1983. He worked in the Sports Medicine Department of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) as a visiting assistant in Rome, Italy (1982-1983), where he completed his specialization project in sports medicine. Awarded a British Council scholarship, he earned his M.Sc. in Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Loughborough University, UK (1987-1988).

He was the founding director of the School of Sport Sciences at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey (1989-1994). Dr. Ergen was later appointed head of the Sports Medicine Department at Ankara University Medical School, where he was granted a professorship in sports medicine in 1994, serving in this role until 2012. Throughout his career, he has lectured as an external or guest lecturer at various universities, including Marmara University (1987-1989, Istanbul), Middle East Technical University (1989-1991, Ankara), Baskent University (2013-2014, Ankara), and Halic University (2021-2024, Istanbul). He represented Turkey in European Council Coordinated Sport Projects (1984-1989), namely EUROFIT and Sports Injuries and Prevention Projects.

Dr. Ergen also founded several sports organizations, including the Turkish Sport for All Federation (1991), the University Sport Federation (1996), and the Sport Sciences Association (1992). He served as team physician for the Turkish Olympic Teams during the 1996 (Atlanta, USA) and 2000 (Sydney, Australia) Olympic Games. Additionally, he was President of the Turkish Sports Medicine Association (2009-2011) and Chairman of the Turkish National Olympic Committee Medical Commission (1993-2014).

He has held several roles, including Chairman of the World Archery Medical and Sport Science Committee (2003-2017), Chair of the Education Commission of the International Sports Medicine Federation (FIMS), Secretary General of the European Federation of Sports Medicine Association (EFSMA), and member of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Medical Commission. He served on the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission Games Group, where he contributed to activities during the 2010 Vancouver, 2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, 2018 Pyeongchang, 2020 Tokyo, and 2022 Beijing Olympic Games.

From 2015 to 2017, Dr. Ergen worked as a senior consultant and Medical Director at Al Attar Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine Clinic. He then served as Acting Head of Department at Aspetar Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Hospital in Doha, Qatar (2017-2020), where he chaired the Ethics and Medical Records Committees and was the Lead Physician of the Preparticipation Medical Examination Unit.

Dr. Ergen is also an active member of the Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee of the International Testing Agency (ITA) since June 2023 and a member of the World Archery Medical Commission since October 2024.

Dr. Emre AK, Sports Scientist Head of Sports Medicine & Athletic Performance Center

Director of Sports Medicine & Athletic Performance Center

Emre AK is the Head of Sports Medicine & Athletic Performance Center at Gloria Sports Arena. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Movement Science from Middle East Technical University and spent 1.5 years as a visiting scholar at Penn State University’s Kinesiology School, Biomechanics Department, conducting research in Sports Biomechanics.

With extensive experience in performance testing and data analysis, Emre has contributed to various international research projects and has published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to his role at Gloria Sports Arena, he serves as an Assistant Professor at Nişantaşı University.

Emre is actively involved in table tennis at an international level. He is a key member of the Turkish Table Tennis Federation, responsible for International Affairs and Organizations, and is certified as an ITTF Level-1 International Course Conductor.

Beyond his academic and professional work, he is an avid racket sports player, actively competing in table tennis, badminton, squash, tennis, and racketlon.

Onur ÇELİK Physiotherapist

Onur Çelik graduated from Yeditepe University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in 2019. Following his graduation, he gained extensive experience in manual therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, and sports health. He also served as the physiotherapist for the U17 Men's National Team at the Turkish Volleyball Federation.

Throughout his career, Onur has worked with numerous athletes, specializing in sports rehabilitation, risk analysis, and preventive rehabilitation. From 2019 to 2021, he worked at Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Akşahin’s clinic, providing rehabilitation for post-surgical patients. Later, between 2021 and 2023, he served as a youth basketball physiotherapist at Emlak Konut Basketball Club.

Since 2024, Onur has been working at Gloria Sports Arena, collaborating with athletes from various sports and nationalities.

Dedicated to advancing his expertise in pain management, he has completed the IKOMT (Institut für klinisch Orientierte Mehrdimensionale Therapie) Concept Education, a two-year multidisciplinary program based on the Dutch rehabilitation model.

His clinical expertise includes musculoskeletal disorders, corrective exercise strategies, sports health, manual therapy for the lumbar and cervical spine, and chronic pain management.

Leonid TOLMACI Physiotherapist

Leonid Tolmacı completed his undergraduate education at Marmara University, Faculty of Health Sciences. With extensive experience working in various football clubs and sports clinics, he has developed expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation, manual therapy, and athlete rehabilitation.

Leonid takes a patient-centered approach to treatment, conducting detailed evaluations to create personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to each patient’s condition and needs. He prioritizes patient satisfaction and rights, ensuring an effective and successful treatment process by incorporating their preferences into his approach.

His dedication to individualized care and his broad experience in sports rehabilitation make him a highly skilled practitioner in his field.

Ceren KARACAN Physiotherapist

Ceren Karacan completed her undergraduate education at Manisa Celal Bayar University. As an experienced physiotherapist, she specializes in sports health, manual therapy, and spine health. She has worked in various sports and health clinics, gaining extensive experience in physical rehabilitation and movement analysis. As a Schroth Scoliosis therapist, she applies evidence-based approaches in scoliosis treatment. Additionally, she is currently pursuing OMT Osteopathy training, further enhancing her expertise in manual therapy and osteopathic techniques.

ARTEM SHENTYURK
Artem SHENTYURK Rehabilitation & Athletic Performance Specialist

Artem Shentyurk is a highly experienced Athletic Performance Specialist with a strong background in the wellness and fitness industry. He specializes in developing and implementing training programs designed to evaluate, measure, and enhance athletic performance across various sports.

An expert in functional movement screening (FMS philosophy), Artem focuses on improving movement efficiency and reducing injury risk. He also holds certifications in nutrition coaching and body composition analysis from Precision Nutrition, allowing him to provide comprehensive performance nutrition guidance.

In addition to his expertise in performance analysis, he has significant experience in exercise-based musculoskeletal rehabilitation, working with athletes from diverse sports backgrounds to support injury prevention, recovery, and performance optimization.

KUBILAY ARDA MERIH
Arda Kubilay MERİH Rehabilitation & Athletic Performance Specialist

Arda Kubilay Merih holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from Süleyman Demirel University and is an experienced Performance Specialist. He specializes in developing and implementing training programs based on the EXOS Training System, focusing on performance evaluation, skill development, injury prevention, and peak performance across various sports disciplines.

A former professional basketball player in the Turkish Professional League, Arda brings firsthand athletic experience to his work. He has extensive expertise in performance testing, body composition analysis, and anthropometric measurements, helping athletes optimize their physical conditioning and maximize their potential.

 

Deniz BODUR Personal Trainer

Deniz Bodur graduated from Gazi University - Faculty of Sports Sciences. He holds a Personal Trainer certification from the Australia Sports Institute & Fitness Academy. He has gained extensive experience working as an individual trainer in private fitness centers, coaching clients at various levels. Currently, he is a personal trainer at Gloria Sports Arena, Sports Medicine & Athletic Performance Center.
