The FIBA Basketball Champions League Qualifying Tournament, hosted by Gloria Sports Arena between 17-22 September 2024, witnessed a great excitement with the cooperation of Turkish Basketball Federation, Basketball Champions League (BCL) and Smart Casual Event. A total of 24 teams from Turkey, including Aliağa Petkimspor, PAOK Mateco (Greece), Cholet Basket (France), Heroes den Bosch (Netherlands) and many European teams competed in the organisation.
Aliağa Petkimspor, the representative of Turkey in the tournament, defeated Heroes den Bosch 92-72 in the quarter-finals and Cholet Basket 76-70 in the semi-finals to reach the final. Our representative, who faced the Greek team PAOK Mateco in the final, won with a score of 79-69 and qualified for the Basketball Champions League.
SL Benfica (Portugal), Telekom Baskets Bonn (Germany) and ERA Nymburk (Czech Republic) also qualified for the Champions League as champions in their groups.
